Piggery projects for Chipinge South schools
The Chipinge South legislator has embarked on an ambitious piggery project to support all schools in his constituency as part of schools’ fundraising initiatives.
Having started a viable piggery project at his farm in Middle Sabi, Honorable Porusingazi has set his sight on turning Chipinge South into a pig breeding power house.
He said he thought of supporting local schools by giving them pigs to start piggery projects after having realised high returns when he started his own project.
The Chipinge South legislator-cum-farmer said schools should be capacitated to generate revenue in order to reduce the funding burden from parents.
“I have given many schools pigs to start piggery projects after realising that the business venture has high returns,” he said.
Checheche Secondary School head of practicals department Fungai Matanga whose school is one of the numerous beneficiaries of the piggery support project said the project promotes research among students while helping to generate revenue.
“The programme started by the local legislator has empowered our school and students who have learnt effectively from the practicals being done,” he said.
With Zimbabwe being largely an agro-based economy, establishment of more agro projects at schools will certainly have a positive impact on the success of the country’s agriculture sector.
