Maize deliveries to the Grain Marketing Board have risen to 160 000 metric tonnes with US$62.4 million being paid out to farmers.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development responsible for cropping Cde Davis Marapira confirmed the development to the ZBC News.

Harvesting is ongoing and more deliveries are expected.

Following the successful command agriculture programme, the country is on course to produce an estimated 2.1 million metric tonnes of maize.
