The government has gazetted a statutory instrument that criminalises abuse of inputs and produce under the Command Agriculture Programme.
This was confirmed by Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa said in this in Kadoma during a groundbreaking ceremony for an agri-residential project being implemented by Craft Properties land developers.
He said the gazetting of Statutory Instrument 79 will see those who abuse command agriculture inputs and produce being arrested.
“The instrument also punishes middlemen who purchase crop produced under the programme,” added Cde Mnangagwa.
He also revealed that early this week, the government approved modalities for funding and implementing livestock command farming.
Under the programme, farmers undertaking piggery and poultry projects on small holder and agri-residential plots will also receive funding from government.
He urged beneficiaries of Kadoma’s Mandalay agri-residential area to take advantage of the programme and quickly undertake piggery and poultry projects on their plots.
